Imran Khan’s Stand on Islamabad Tragedy
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, during a conversation with media and lawyers in Adiala Jail, expressed his unwavering stance on the tragic events in Islamabad. “Imran Khan’s Stand on Islamabad Tragedy” is clear: “The people will not forget the tragedy of the Islamabad massacre, akin to Jallianwala Bagh. General Dyer’s massacre is still remembered even after a hundred years, despite the absence of cameras or media at that time.”
Gathering Evidence
Khan emphasized that Islamabad is actively collecting evidence of the massacre, which cannot be hidden. “If not today, then tomorrow, everything will be revealed,” he stated. “Imran Khan’s Stand on Islamabad Tragedy” includes a directive to his party and workers to raise their voices against this atrocity at all levels, including Parliament, Judiciary, and International Media.
Day of Mourning
On December 15th, a day of mourning and prayer ceremonies will be held in Pakistan and worldwide to honour the martyrs of Islamabad. Khan highlighted the dire situation, stating, “We are pushed to the last stage. People protest peacefully, yet they are shot directly. Even the data of our martyrs is hidden, and many people have disappeared. I am arrested in one case after another, and the twenty-sixth constitutional amendment has usurped the Judiciary.”
Call for Civil Disobedience
“Imran Khan’s Stand on Islamabad Tragedy” also includes a call for civil disobedience if their demands are not met. “They have left us no option but civil disobedience. If our demands for an independent judicial commission of senior judges and the release of under-trial political prisoners are not met, we will vigorously pursue the civil disobedience movement. The first step will be a campaign to reduce the remittances of overseas Pakistanis.”
Appeal to Institutions
Khan urged institutions to identify and stop those working to create a rift between the people and the army. “We will not allow our country to fall apart,” he declared. He clarified that General Faiz was under General Bajwa and that General Faiz’s case was an internal matter of the army. “When I was the Prime Minister, General Faiz used to meet me with General Bajwa’s permission and then debrief General Bajwa. It is foolish to associate General Faiz with May 9th. Did I know that I was to be arrested on May 9? So what was the conspiracy about? What could General Faiz help us with after retirement?”
Accountability for General Bajwa
“Imran Khan’s Stand on Islamabad Tragedy” calls for accountability for General Bajwa. “The real reckoning should be with General Bajwa, who conspired against our elected government. This has been confirmed by many, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Muhammad Zubair. General Bajwa should be tried for conspiring against an elected government.”
