Google’s New AI Model ‘Gemini’ Can ‘Outperform Humans’ In Intelligence Tests

Google has released a new AI model, claiming it possesses strong capabilities in “logical reasoning” and thinking attentively and carefully before answering difficult questions.

Technology that generates content using artificial intelligence sometimes invents new things, which computer developers call “hallucinations.”

Gemini has been tested to solve problems in 57 subjects, including mathematics and general knowledge.

Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai said this represents a “new era” for artificial intelligence. Earlier this year, Google took a cautious approach in launching its AI chatbot, Bard, calling it “an experiment.”

During its trial, Bard made an error, providing a wrong answer to a question about space.

Bard is a tool that helps you work on new ideas and explain them in simple and understandable words and ways. However, Google is making bigger claims about its new model, calling it the “most capable” tool so far and claiming it can surpass human experts in various intelligence tests.

Gemini can recognize and create both text and audio but is known as a foundational model, meaning it will be integrated into Google’s existing tools, including Search and Bard.

The AI race:

According to Gartner analyst Chirag Dekate, Gemini seems to have set a “new standard,” highlighting its ability to learn from sources other than text, such as images.

He said this could enable innovations that might transform creative artificial intelligence.

Google has been trying to attract as many users and attention as OpenAI’s viral chatbot, ChatGPT.

But they claim that the most powerful version of Gemini surpasses OpenAI’s GPT-4 platform, which powers ChatGPT and dominates 30 out of 32 educational standards.

However, a new, more powerful version of OpenAI software is set to be released next year, with CEO Sam Altman stating that the firm’s new products will make previous ones appear “similar to each other.”

It remains to be seen whether the recent turmoil or mismanagement at OpenAI, where Mr Altman was removed from a crucial position and then rehired after much debate, will affect this launch.

The company also faces new competition from Elon Musk’s company xAI, which aims to raise up to $1 billion for research and development. Chinese firm Baidu is also advancing rapidly with its AI products.

As technology progresses quickly, concerns about its potential harm are also growing, and governments worldwide are seriously working on developing regulations or even legislation to control future risks associated with AI.

A summit in the UK in November discussed this topic, where signatories agreed on a declaration calling for its safe development. King Charles III also emphasized that everyone must be united to address potential risks.
