Fight for Justice and Freedom
Imran Khan voiced his strong discontent with the current state of justice in the country, arguing that those who align themselves with the establishment can act with impunity. If you join them, all your cases will be dismissed. This is not justice, he stated. Khan criticized the pardoning of individuals tied to the establishment, noting that while the public is asked to make sacrifices, the elite are forgiven billions in corruption cases.
Root of Hatred and Injustice
Khan also addressed remarks made by the Army Chief about reducing hatred, arguing that the establishment itself is the source of this resentment. “The hatred stems from your actions,” he said. He highlighted the unjust imprisonment of his wife for seven months, questioning what crime she had committed. “At this time, NAB is operating under General Asim Munir,” he pointed out, linking the corruption watchdog to military leadership.
Elite Immunity and NROs
Khan condemned the immunity enjoyed by influential individuals, citing examples of Musharraf and Bajwa, who allegedly granted National Reconciliation Ordinances (NROs) to the elite. He claimed that during his tenure, NAB was under General Bajwa’s control, and Powerful figures faced no action despite significant corruption cases against the Zardari and Sharif families.
NAB Amendments: A Path to Destruction
Khan expressed grave concern over recent amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), describing them as a “path to destruction.” He argued that these amendments, which led to the pardoning of billions in corruption cases, were unconstitutional and served the interests of a small elite group. “No parliament in the world has ever passed a law that pardons robbery in this way,” Khan added.
Call to Rally: Fight for Justice and Freedom
Khan urged the public to join him on September 8 for a rally advocating true freedom, which he linked to justice. “This is your fight,” he emphasized, calling on the nation to stand up for their rights. Despite previous assurances of a peaceful protest, Khan claimed obstacles were now being placed in their path. “But this time, nobody will stop us,” he asserted.
Election Rigging and PTI Oppression
Explaining his refusal to engage with the PML-N, Khan claimed that General Asim Munir and Nawaz Sharif had a secret agreement, pre-planning the oppression faced by the PTI. He questioned how we could sit with them when they had stolen our mandate by rigging the election.
Legal Action and NAB Reform
Khan denied threatening any NAB investigative officers, clarifying that he intended to pursue legal action against the NAB Chairman and investigative officers to prevent future acts of revenge. “I want NAB to become an independent institution under the Supreme Judicial Council,” he proposed.
Unchecked Corruption and Money Laundering
Khan further condemned the rise of money laundering, accusing figures like Mohsin Naqvi, Maryam Nawaz, Shahbaz Sharif, and Asif Zardari of benefitting from dropped corruption cases. He specifically noted the significant financial assets of these individuals, calling on the public to “remember this” when considering the broader implications of the NAB amendments.
The Struggle for Justice
Khan highlighted the injustice faced by prisoners in Adiyala Jail, many of whom are incarcerated because they cannot afford bail or fines ranging from 50,000 to 100,000. In contrast, the corrupt benefit from the NAB amendments. “This country needs justice, not oppression,” Khan remarked. “We are not cattle; we are human beings. Only when justice prevails will there be peace.”
Commitment to the Nation
Concluding his remarks, Khan reaffirmed his dedication to the country, declaring, “I am here to live and die in this country; I will not leave.” He criticized the elite, many of whom, he claimed, have properties abroad and would flee if the situation worsened.
