Imran Khan’s Political Criticism with Media Talk Today in Adiyala Jail
Imran Khan’s Statements on Political Neutrality and Army Involvement.
Claims of Military Neutrality
Imran Khan expressed scepticism about the military’s claims of being neutral and apolitical. He stated, “ISPR said they’re neutral and apolitical. If they’ve become apolitical now, then it is a good thing for the country. But if they’re claiming that they’ve always been neutral, then nothing could be a bigger falsehood.”
Accusations Against Army Chief General Asim Munir
Khan accused Army Chief General Asim Munir of collaborating with Nawaz Sharif in a deal made in London. He claimed, “My wife and I are in prison because of the army chief. General Asim Munir made a written agreement with Nawaz Sharif in London. Before Asim Munir became Army Chief, I sent him a message through Arif Alvi and Ali Zaidi that I knew about the London agreement.”
Political Stance and Refusal to Leave Pakistan
Regarding his political mission, Khan declared, I am not doing politics; rather, I am doing jihad. Furthermore, I will not leave the country. In fact, people like us, who have everything in this country, are the ones who will die here. Conversely, those sitting in big offices and making decisions from above, all their properties are abroad.
May 9th Events and Political Persecution
Khan accused that someone had orchestrated the events of May 9th to weaken his political party. He stated, “Someone purposely planned to dismantle our party on May 9th and carried out rigging on February 8th.”
If they are apolitical, then what are majors, colonels, and ISI doing in the prison?”
Call for a Trial of General Bajwa
Imran Khan called for General Bajwa to face trial, stating, In fact, Imran Khan has demanded a trial of General Bajwa. Moreover, General Faiz used to meet me with General Bajwa’s permission and report to him. Therefore, holding a trial of Faiz Hameed without General Bajwa is, in essence, an act of bad faith, as Faiz was under General Bajwa’s command. Consequently, arrest Bajwa.
He added General Faiz was subordinate to General Bajwa, and Bajwa was being kept out of the trial because he orchestrated the regime change. If General Bajwa is brought to trial, he will reveal all their secrets.
Criticism of NAB Amendments and Supreme Court Decision
Khan criticized the recent NAB amendments and the Supreme Court’s decision, saying, “Congratulations to the government on NRO 2. The Toshakhana 2 case has been essentially dismissed by the Supreme Court with its decision on the NAB amendments. I should be celebrating this decision. The £190 million case is also nearing its end.”
He also voiced concerns about the amendments enabling corruption, “The job of public representatives is to protect the nation’s money. Through the NAB amendments, it has become impossible to catch white-collar crime. This law has opened the door to theft, and public representatives are passing laws to end their corruption cases.”
Impact on the Prison System
Addressing the broader impact of the law, Khan remarked, “There are 7,000 prisoners in Adiyala Jail, and none of them will benefit from this law. The NAB amendments only benefit those who have stolen billions.”
Legal Action Regarding Toshakhana Case
Imran Khan announced his intention to take legal action against officials responsible for his wife’s imprisonment. He stated, “I will take Nazeer Butt, Inam Shah, and the Toshakhana investigation officer to court, as they are the reason my wife has been in prison for the past seven months. Someone falsely valued a necklace worth 18 million rupees at 3.18 billion.
Plea for Military Neutrality
Khan urged the military to genuinely adopt a non-political stance, emphasizing, “The country is heading towards destruction, I request that for the sake of the country, become non-political. Saying you are non-political doesn’t make you so; it will be determined by your actions.”
Demand for May 9th Footage
Khan called for the release of CCTV footage related to the May 9th events, saying, “Bring out the CCTV footage from May 9 that you have kept hidden.”
Support for Ali Amin Gandapur
Khan expressed firm support for Ali Amin Gandapur amidst internal party criticism, “Party leaders are criticizing Ali Amin Gandapur. I selected him as the Chief Minister and stood by him. Do not weaken Ali Amin Gandapur; I am firmly behind him.”
Warning to PTI Leaders
Finally, Khan warned party leaders against plotting within the party, stating, “Those who are talking are the ones who won on PTI tickets; no one won by investing money. To those plotting against us, or in the party, I say, don’t complain later if you’re not given the ticket.”
