Khan Challenges Undemocratic Laws
In a media talk from Adiyala Jail on January 29, 2025, former Prime Minister Imran Khan passionately criticized the undemocratic laws in Pakistan. According to him, the draconian PECA law, which increased the punishment for defamation to five years, clearly violates democratic values and freedom of expression. Khan argued that, in civilized societies, people consider defamation a civil liability and penalize it with fines.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the draconian PECA law was passed to strangle democratic values, suppress freedom of expression, and suffocate press freedom. Khan remarked that the purpose of these actions is to ensure no one dares to speak against the stolen mandate of February 8, 2024, the violation of citizens’ privacy, the false-flag operation of May 9, 2023, or the massacre of November 26, 2024.
Khan condemned the puppet government for violating citizens’ fundamental rights through illegal amendments. He pointed out that the 26th Constitutional Amendment has weakened the judiciary. They are attempting to appoint a Chief Justice from outside, which Khan compared to a second coming of Qazi Faez Isa. This undermines the merit-based system essential for judicial integrity. “The appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner should be based on merit; otherwise, figures like Sikandar Sultan Raja will emerge—those who serve the establishment instead of the people,” Khan stated.
Judicial and Electoral Appointments
Imran Khan asserted that authorities should try Sikandar Sultan Raja under Article 6, accusing him of facilitating the government of Form 47 by stealing the people’s mandate. The nation will observe February 8th as a ‘Black Day,’ marking the betrayal of the public mandate. Khan accused the government of staging a sham dialogue, which exposed their true faces. He believes they will neither allow the formation of a judicial commission nor permit investigations into May 9th or November 26th because they fear the truth will come out.
Khan elaborated that the Quran emphasizes ‘Amr Bil Ma’ruf Wa Nahi Anil Munkar’—standing for what is right and resisting evil. He asserted that morality is the foundation of democracy. As the Quran describes, a hypocrite stands with wrongdoers and faces humiliation in this world and the hereafter.
Justice and Rule of Law
Khan stressed that only those who uphold morality deliver justice. These principles built the state of Medina, and Muslims ruled the world because of them. nciples, and Muslims ruled the world because of them. If Pakistan wants to set its direction right, it must focus on teaching ethics, upholding fundamental human rights, and valuing human life. Khan highlighted that even a Jew won a case against Caliph Ali (RA), a minority case demonstrating justice in an Islamic society.
Khan argued that Pakistan’s society and economy are deteriorating because the principles of Islam and democracy have been neglected. He called for genuine sovereignty (Haqeeqi Azadi) and a relentless struggle to uphold these principles. According to him, a person who fears no one but God succeeds, while a coward can never be victorious.
In conclusion, Imran Khan’s media talk highlighted Pakistan’s significant challenges regarding justice, democracy, and governance. He called on the nation to continue its struggle for fundamental rights and democratic values, asserting that the ultimate victory belongs to those who never give up.
