Pakistan Unveils Cricket Squads

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will announce Pakistan’s white-ball captain at a media conference in Lahore on Sunday at 3:30 PM. Under the title “Pakistan Unveils Cricket Squads,” the PCB revealed the selected teams for the upcoming Australia and Zimbabwe tours, marking key choices for the national side and a focus on preparing for the ICC Champions Trophy.

On October 27, 2024, the PCB selectors announced Pakistan’s 15-member squads for the tours of Australia and Zimbabwe. The team will play three ODIs and three T20Is in each country. The Australia tour will run from November 4 to November 18, while the Zimbabwe matches in Bulawayo will occur from November 24 to December 5.

This selection aligns with the rotation strategy, with top players Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Shah Afridi set to return for the Australia matches but resting during the Zimbabwe tour. Mohammad Rizwan will be available for the Australia matches and Zimbabwe ODIs, while he will rest for the Zimbabwe T20Is. Selectors have also chosen several domestic standouts as part of their strategy for the ICC Champions Trophy.

Uncapped players in the ODI squad include Aamir Jamal, Arafat Minhas, Faisal Akram, Haseebullah, Muhammad Irfan Khan, and Saim Ayub. Jahandad Khan and Salman Ali Agha are new to the T20I squad.

Kamran Ghulam, Omair Bin Yousuf, and Sufyan Moqim make their national team debuts. Kamran previously served as a concussion substitute in an ODI against New Zealand in January 2023, while Omair and Sufyan debuted in T20I cricket against Hong Kong during the Asian Games.
