The Karachi Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been relocated to Rawalpindi

To accommodate the ongoing construction work for the National Bank Stadium’s redevelopment ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board, in consultation with the Bangladesh Cricket Board, has decided to move the second ICC World Test Championship fixture to the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Construction experts advised that while work could continue during playing hours, the resulting noise and dust pollution would disrupt the cricketers and adversely affect the health and well-being of players, officials, broadcasters, and media.

This decision allows spectators and fans to witness both Test matches, which serve as a preview of Pakistan’s busy international schedule. From August 21 to April 5, the national team will play a total of 9 Tests, 14 T20Is, and at least 17 ODIs.

Given the need for uninterrupted construction to ensure the National Bank Stadium’s operational readiness for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, the PCB, after consulting all stakeholders, decided to host both Tests in Rawalpindi.

The first Test will begin on August 21, followed by the second Test starting on August 30. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh ‘A’ teams will continue their series in Islamabad, with the second four-day match on August 20 and three 50-over matches on August 26, 28, and 30.

  • The decision enables spectators to watch both the ICC World Test Championship matches live at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
  • Tests are scheduled for 21-25 August and 30 August-3 September; Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh ‘A’ will also play their series in Islamabad
  • Tickets are available online at PCB.tcs.com.pk; The Ticket booth at Aviation Ground, opposite Rescue 1122, Rawal Road, will be operational on Monday, 19 August, at 11am
