India will be the host of Asia Cup 2025

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced that India will be the host nation for the Men’s Asia Cup in the T20 format in 2025, marking the return of the prestigious regional tournament to Indian soil. The participating teams will include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and a sixth team to be determined through a qualifying event. The tournament is set to feature a total of 13 matches, aligning with the T20 World Cup schedule and serving as a crucial preparatory event for the participating teams.

While the exact dates for the tournament are pending finalization, reports suggest that it could take place in September, following the conclusion of the monsoon season in India to ensure optimal playing conditions and smooth event organization. In the previous edition, the tournament was held in a hybrid format, with India emerging victorious under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

In addition to the 2025 edition, the ACC has disclosed plans to revert the Asia Cup to the 50-over format in 2027, with Bangladesh hosting the event. This alternating format aims to ensure the tournament’s adaptability and adeptness in preparing teams for both T20 and ODI formats at the international level.
