Political Suppression in Pakistan: A Call for Constitutional Supremacy
No leader in Pakistan’s political history has faced the level of suppression I am currently experiencing. Despite allegations of corruption worth billions, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was afforded full comfort during his incarceration. In stark contrast, my wife Bushra Bibi—an apolitical and innocent individual—has been subjected to deeply inhumane conditions in prison.
Inhumane Detention & Basic Rights Violations
My imprisonment is not just harsh—it’s unprecedented. It is a direct result of my unwavering commitment to uphold the Constitution of Pakistan and serve the nation. The conditions are unbearable:
- Contaminated water for ablution fills with dirt.
- Someone has withheld my family’s books for months.
- They have completely cut off access to television and newspapers.
- Someone has taken away the few old books I had.
Despite legal entitlements, I’ve been denied:
- Basic prisoner facilities are outlined in the jail manual.
- The right to communicate with my children.
- Only select individuals can attend routine political meetings.
This is a blatant violation of human rights in Pakistani prisons, showcasing the grim state of political suppression.
Rallying PTI: A Call to Unite for August 5 Movement
I urge every Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member to abandon internal disputes and rally behind the upcoming PTI movement on August 5. Right now, I do not see sufficient momentum. The time for political infighting is over.
We are confronting a deeply rooted 78-year-old authoritarian system. Despite the ongoing oppression, the public stands firm by my side. That support is my greatest strength.
February 8 Elections: A Clear Mandate Ignored
On February 8, 2024, the people made their voices heard. They voted decisively for PTI—even without an official election symbol. This silent yet powerful mandate must not be ignored.
It is now:
- A moral duty.
- A political obligation.
PTI leaders must become the voice of the people. Anyone caught engaging in factionalism within PTI will face expulsion. We are fighting for future generations, and internal betrayal is unacceptable.
Judicial Crisis: The Aftermath of Form 47 & the 26th Amendment
The Form 47 rigging scandal has birthed a government that is unaccountable and hostile to justice. Through the 26th Constitutional Amendment, they’ve paralysed the judiciary. Biased verdicts are now the norm, handed down by compromised judges.
We must launch a nationwide movement to:
- Restore judicial independence in Pakistan
- Safeguard democratic institutions
- Demand constitutional supremacy
A nation cannot survive—let alone thrive—without an independent judicial system.
